Cooks are responsible for presenting a pleasurable dining experience to clients by preparing best quality food. They manage all aspects of food preparation in an environment that meets sanitation guidelines. They prepare a wide variety of desserts, side dishes, main course, and other components of a meal. They also do the cooking process and plating and presentation. Cooks should have In depth knowledge of a wide variety of tools and equipment, raging from spoons to grills.

Cook Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve customers by providing a pleasing eating experience
  • Serves meals by reviewing recipes
  • Work on the detail and presentation of every order
  • Places and expedites orders
  • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Coordinates daily food supply inventory for restaurant
  • Assists with receipt of deliveries.
  • Respond to customer complaints and suggestions
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Keep an orderly and clean environment in the cafeteria
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Cook Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Decision-making
  • Excellent Customer service
  • Planning, problem solving, and teamwork
  • Familiarity with computers and software
  • Basic knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook Email
  • Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a cook will be an advantage
  • Current SERVSAFE certification
  • Associate’s degree in institutional food preparation preferred
  • Current food handler’s card and other certification as required by federal
