The Associate General Counsel (Valued-Based Care and Reimbursement) will serve as the companys lead attorney for the companys Value-Based Care business unit responsible for advising on legal and regulatory matters; contracting strategies with payors, plans and strategic vendors; and providing risk management strategies. While this roles primary focus is on supporting the companys Value-Based Care business unit, this individual will also support the IT and Medical Affairs functions with healthcare and transactional matters from time to time. The Associate General Counsel will also advise and support the business on regulatory matters including government-sponsored shared savings / loss programs such as the CMSs Comprehensive Kidney Contracting Options Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the lead attorney for the companys Value-Based Care business unit advising the VBC leadership team on legal and regulatory matters, risk management strategies, and contracting strategies.
  • Lead attorney for value-based care and fee-for-service contracts with government and private payors including Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Lead attorney for the companys participation in government-sponsored VBC programs such as CMSs Comprehensive Kidney Contracting Options Program.
  • Support the IT and Medical Affairs teams with healthcare regulatory matters and third party contracting.
  • Advise and partner with the companys VBC, Medical Affairs and IT leadership teams on the structure of new offerings, initiatives, and third-party collaborations.
  • Support Chief Legal Officer on all other legal, regulatory and compliance matters as needed.
  • Support the legal department with department metrics and reporting.
  • Support the legal department with strategic initiatives and participate in strategic planning sessions to identify goals and objectives for the company.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Qualifications:

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.
  • Minimum of 12 years as a practicing attorney.
  • Preferred work experience with a national law firm.
  • At least 5 years experience in substantive healthcare legal and regulatory matters working directly with or for provider or payer organizations, with a preference for work experience with or for management service organizations.
  • Experience working with government-sponsored shared savings / loss programs such as ACO Reach, CKCC or similar programs.
  • Extensive experience with private payor contracting for Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Experience of management of outside counsel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional experience working with providers and payers.
  • Experience working with government-sponsored shared savings / loss programs.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • Strategic thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

This role has a salary range of $ 190 - 240K, bonus eligibility and regular, full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid time off (PTO).
